Dash Longe

I love life and I try to live it to the fullest. I enjoy traveling, meeting people and seeing new cultures. It's interesting to me how they differ from the one I was brought up in. Skiing is a great way for me to express myself, relish being active, and see new places around the world. I am thankful for skiing and all that it has brought me. There is a remarkable connection to skiing and almost everything in my life. I have always skied and I love it more than ever. I can't wait to get out and rip some pow and watch my friends make sick cool things happen.

  • Home mountain:
  • Now Alta/Snowbird. I grew up skiing Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows.
  • What is your favorite ski in 2011/2012 Collection?
  • It is a toss up between the Shiro and the Chopstick.
  • Why do you like this ski?
  • I like the Shiro for my all mountain-everything ski. It is a super stomper and it maneuvers very well through the tight trees and in technical conditions. I love the chopstick because there is no denying its ability to land backwards in the pow.
  • What conditions do you use this ski for?
  • I found myself reaching for the Shiro a bit more just because it is a great, well rounded ski that is good in more types of conditions. If I ever know I will be landing something switch, I will bring a chopstick for sure. I tend to ski either the Chopstick or Shiro 90 percent of the time I head up.
  • What other skis in the 2011/2012 collection do you ride?
  • I love the Mantra and Katana as well.
  • Can you tell us a little about each pair of skis, and about what sort of conditions you use them for?
  • I love the Mantra for groomer days. I will dedicate mornings or afternoons to just ripping groomers and I try to always have a Mantra for those times. I like the Katana on a day that it has only snowed a few inches or maybe its just creamy wind buff snow. I will more often than not just grab a Shiro or Chopstick because I like to be used to what I am skiing when it comes time to shoot.
  • What about bindings? What bindings do you use? And where do you mount them?
  • I use a Jester Pro and a Duke. It depends what ski I am mounting. I like my chopstick pretty close to center. My Shiro is forward as well, but it is a more directional ski so I definitely like more tip than tail. I try to mount the other skis closer to the center of the side cut because I don't really do much switch skiing on them.
  • What DIN do you have your bindings on?
  • I have the Jester Pro at 16, and the Duke maxed out.
  • Favorite skier:
  • That is a hard one. I think I have to say Sean Pettit right now. I also love Dylan Hood. Sage is one of the most fun guys to ski with (love to watch him too).
  • Ski hero growing up
  • Alberto Tomba, James Bond (his stunt doubles were pretty sick), Wane Wong, Plake and Schmidt, Jt Homes, The Three Phills, Pollard and Skogan.
  • Ideal day in the mountains:
  • When it's puking snow still after a huge dump and I am ripping with my friends and having a blast.
  • How would you describe your style:
  • I am all about making things look beautiful. I love smoothness and fluidity. I am a perfectionist when it comes to making what I am doing look the best I can. Now, one of my main goals is to just go huge.
  • Your biggest breakthrough in your skiing career:
  • There have been so many great moments from the day I sessioned a kicker with big name pros that I watched in movies like Pollard, Skogan, Vincent Dorian, JF Cusson, Kent Kreitler and Shane Anderson (I also met Peter Line that day and he was one of my favorite pro snowboarders at the time), to the time I got my first shot published in a mag. Then, I remember being that first skier to ever ride for a Burton owned company. I have been proud to travel with TGR and be a part of their last 8 films. The thing that has been eating me up lately is that I came really close to stomping something huge this year before I tore my meniscus and had to take the second half of my season off…that would have been another breakthrough.
  • Favorite place to ride:
  • I love Alta and Snowbird, they get some of the best snow I have found on the planet thus far. However, nothing beats Squaw on a pow day for me.
  • Best snow trip:
  • There have been way to many great ones. I loved my first trip with TGR to India, but we have seen some pretty amazing places since then as well. I also love BC, it is one of my favorite places to ski and I definitely look forward to the next trip I get to take up there.
  • What age did you start to ski:
  • Two and a half or three.
  • What can't you live without:
  • Water
  • Favorite phone App:
  • Top 100 hits and I have been into Heytell. Just found out it works overseas if you have WiFi.
  • Goals and plans:
  • I plan to continue progressing the sport by skiing bigger terrain, going bigger, doing bigger tricks and catching it on film. I also look forward to doing more comps like the RedBull Cold Rush.
